Involved in a fatal accident: It turns out Kerem Kınık's daughter, Fatma Zehra Kınık, will no longer even have to sign in!

The first hearing for the case involving Fatma Zehra Kınık Demir, daughter of former Turkish Red Crescent President Kerem Kınık, who caused an accident that led to the death of 17-year-old Batın Barlasçeki and injured two others, was held on October 30 at the Istanbul Anatolian 8th High Criminal Court.

Details of the hearing, which was closed to the press and the public, were shared by Barlasçeki’s mother, Hasret Doğan.

According to a report by İsmail Arı from BirGün; Doğan stated in her remarks that the judicial control decision for Fatma Zehra Kınık Demir had also been lifted.

‘YOU KILLED MY CHILD’

Stating, “My child is dead and the person responsible is free,” Doğan expressed the following:

“My child has been under the soil for 4 months, Zehra Kınık has been tried without arrest for 4 months, and as a result of the first court hearing, her judicial control was lifted, meaning she won't even have to sign in anymore. My child is dead! I cannot comprehend how such a decision can be made, with what right, with what conscience, and how she can remain free as if nothing happened. If the situation had been the opposite, my son would be in prison right now!

This woman played the victim in court, saying things like ‘my psychology is ruined,’ ‘they are slandering me,’ etc. And she did it right in front of me! Without any shame! Your psychology cannot be as ruined as mine, can it? A part of my soul is gone. My only child is gone. Your psychology is not more valuable than my child's life! She said she was sorry for the crime she claimed she did not commit. What are you sorry for, for instance? You don't even accept your crime yet. A person feels remorse for a crime they have committed. Because they feel remorse, they accept their crime, bow their head, apologize, blush, and feel embarrassed. They don't run away from their crime by saying the motorcycle hit them. You are 100 percent at fault in the expert report. There is camera footage, there is evidence, and despite all this, you do not accept your crime! You don't say I am at fault! On top of that, you say I am sorry, I am sad. Even your conscience has not accepted this crime. You sat very comfortably in the courtroom. Because you are sure that nothing will happen to you!

After this incident, you and your family took photos at a rally you attended to support Palestine. You shared them on social media. You destroyed my family of two, and then posed as a family. You felt no shame at all! What are you grieving for? You caused the death of my only child. Even if you deny it a million times, I shout it a million times: You killed my child!”

WHAT HAPPENED?

In the accident that occurred on July 9 on Fatih Sultan Mehmet Street in the Kavacık neighborhood of Istanbul's Beykoz district, Fatma Zehra Kınık hit a motorcycle while exiting Baki Street onto Fatih Sultan Mehmet Street.

In the accident, the motorcycle driver Yavuz Selim Öztürk and Batın Barlasçeki, who was behind him, fell off the motorcycle, and the riderless motorcycle hit pedestrians, causing injuries. While the driver Öztürk survived the accident with injuries, Barlasçeki, who hit his head on a concrete bollard on the sidewalk, lost his life. The car driver, Fatma Zehra Kınık, who was taken into custody, was released by the court to be tried without arrest.

Recently, an indictment was prepared by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Fatma Zehra Kınık for the incident that caused the death of 1 person and the injury of 4 people, on charges of "causing death and injury by negligence." The first hearing of the case in which Fatma Zehra Kınık will be tried is scheduled for October 30.

In the indictment, it was requested that Fatma Zehra Kınık be sentenced to 2 to 15 years in prison for the crime of "causing death and injury by negligence."
