Iran defies Trump's 'we will hit harder' threat
US President Donald Trump's threat of a "very hard blow" against Iran has been met with a response from Tehran. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and head of the negotiating delegation, who is in Switzerland for talks with the US, stated that Washington's language of threats yields no results, declaring, "We do not take the Americans' threats seriously."
As the traffic of negotiations with the US continues in Switzerland, a new link has been added to the war of words between Washington and Tehran. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and head of the negotiating delegation, responded to US President Donald Trump's recent statements regarding Iran via his social media account.
Speaking after Trump used harsh language toward Iran, Ghalibaf stated that his country would not bow to pressure and threats, expressing that they do not take the US rhetoric seriously.
"WE DO NOT TAKE THE AMERICANS' THREATS SERIOUSLY"
In his statement, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf argued that the politics of threats have not produced results to date.
Ghalibaf included the following remarks in his post:
"Do they not ever think that if their threats had achieved a result, they would not have fallen into today's desperation? We do not take the Americans' threats seriously."
"IRANIAN ARMED FORCES ARE READY"
According to statements from Iranian officials, Ghalibaf also emphasized that the consequences of the language used by the US administration should be carefully calculated.
Ghalibaf stated that the Iranian Armed Forces are prepared to respond to potential threats in various ways, noting that US officials should be more careful in their statements.
TRUMP'S "HARDER BLOW" MESSAGE
The statement that ignited the tension came from US President Donald Trump.
Trump had used the following expressions in his assessment regarding Iran's allies in Lebanon:
"Iran must immediately stop its highly paid proxy forces in Lebanon from causing trouble. Otherwise, we will strike Iran with a very hard blow again, just as we did last week, and perhaps even harder this time."
