ISIS operation in Istanbul: 15 detained
In an operation conducted against the terrorist organization ISIS in Istanbul, 15 suspects were apprehended for their alleged links to the group and for making social media posts in support of Al-Qaeda, having previously operated as members of the organization.
In efforts conducted by the Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism and Intelligence Branches against ISIS, several individuals were identified who were linked to the organization and had previously made social media posts in support of the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda while operating as ISIS members.
An operation was launched early this morning at predetermined addresses to apprehend the suspects whose names and locations had been identified. During the raids conducted at numerous addresses, 15 suspects were apprehended and taken into custody. A large amount of digital material was seized during searches of the suspects' residences.
The detained suspects were taken to the Istanbul Counter-Terrorism Branch for questioning. The investigation into the operation is continuing from multiple angles.
