Israel has killed 450 Palestinian students expected to take university entrance exams
In the attacks launched by Israel on October 7, 2023, 450 high school students who were expected to take the university entrance exam have lost their lives so far.
Palestinian Ministry of Education spokesperson Sadiq al-Khadour stated in his announcement that the university entrance exam, which began today, could only be held in the West Bank, and that the exam could not be conducted in the Gaza Strip due to the attacks.
Stating that "450 students who were supposed to take the exam, including 430 in the Gaza Strip and 20 in the West Bank, have been killed by the Israeli army," al-Khadour noted that 50,000 students in the West Bank are taking their exams, but approximately 39,000 students in the Gaza Strip have been deprived of this opportunity as a result of Israel's attacks.
According to the statement from the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the university entrance exam, known as "Tawjihi," began today at 09:00 local time and will continue for 18 days.
In the attacks Israel has carried out on the Gaza Strip since October 7, at least 37,551 Palestinians have been killed, including 15,694 children and 10,279 women, and 85,911 people have been injured.
While it is reported that there are still thousands of dead under the rubble, civilian infrastructure is also being destroyed by targeting hospitals and educational institutions where the public has taken shelter.
