Israeli army targets TRT team

The Israeli army targeted the vehicle of a TRT Arabi team, which had "press" markings, in the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.

TRT Arabi's Gaza Correspondent Sami Berhum stated that Israeli soldiers opened direct fire on the vehicle and that the security situation in the region was being severely violated.

Berhum said that this was the fourth time press teams had been targeted since the war began in Gaza. Explaining that they were in an area north of Khan Yunis that Israel had designated as "safe" to report the news, Berhum said, "During the attack, intense fire was opened around our vehicle. Israeli sniper soldiers stationed on the hills targeted us directly. They continued to fire even after we had moved about 5 meters away from the vehicle."

Berhum stated that the Israeli soldiers targeted them directly without any warning, and that this situation shows there is no safe place in Gaza. He also noted that the vehicle's windshield and the cameramen standing next to it were targeted.

The TRT Arabi Gaza Correspondent emphasized that this incident bears similarities to an attack carried out by the Israeli army four months ago in which he lost his leg.

CONDEMNATION FROM OZEL

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel condemned the attack by Israel on TRT Arabi Gaza Correspondent Sami Berhum.

In a post on his social media account, Özel stated, "I condemn the attack by Israeli soldiers on TRT Arabi Correspondent Sami Berhum, who is reporting what is happening in Gaza to the world, and I convey my best wishes to Berhum and the TRT family."
