Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu deletes post blaming military and intelligence

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blamed the Israeli military and the domestic intelligence agency, Shin Bet, for the security failures during the October 7 attacks launched from the blockaded Gaza Strip by Hamas and supported by Palestinian resistance organizations.

In a tweet posted late Saturday night, Netanyahu reiterated his claim that he had not been warned by security chiefs about an impending Hamas attack, becoming the target of harsh criticism over what appeared to be a clear attempt to evade responsibility for the catastrophe.

CRISIS BETWEEN THE MILITARY AND THE PRIME MINISTER

In a statement on his Telegram account, Netanyahu argued that "claims that the Prime Minister was informed about the attacks launched from the Gaza Strip on October 7 are baseless, and on the contrary, no warning was received."

In the statement, Netanyahu claimed that "on the contrary, the Israeli military and the Shin Bet (Shabak) assessed that Hamas was deterred and that calm had been achieved."

The Israeli Prime Minister argued that all intelligence agencies had repeatedly provided him and the government with the same assessment "until the very last moment before the war broke out."

DELETED HIS POST

Netanyahu deleted his post, in which he blamed the Israeli military and the domestic intelligence agency Shin Bet (Shabak) for the security failures in the attacks, approximately nine hours later.

Netanyahu removed the post he had published overnight on the Telegram and X social media platforms, in which he claimed that the Israeli military and the intelligence agency Shabak had misinformed him.
