Neta Heiman, an Israeli whose mother has been held captive in Gaza since October 7, said she does not trust the Benjamin Netanyahu government and is against the punishment of the people of Gaza.

Speaking from her home in the northern Israeli city of Haifa, Heiman stated that neither her mother should be punished for Israel's occupation policies, nor the approximately 2 million 300 thousand Palestinians living in Gaza for the actions of Hamas.

"I DO NOT BELIEVE WE SHOULD STOP HUMANITARIAN AID"

Expressing that the entry of medicine into Gaza should be permitted, the Israeli Heiman said, "Because the people of Gaza are not guilty. They are also suffering because of Hamas. Perhaps they are suffering even more than we are. I do not believe we should stop humanitarian aid."

Describing Netanyahu as a "liar," Heiman also accused the Israeli government of not prioritizing the rescue of hostages held in Gaza.

Heiman said, "(Netanyahu) We know he is a liar. We have not trusted the government for a year. That is why we go out to the streets and shout. He (Netanyahu) does not care about people. He does not care about anyone except himself and his family."

"LOW PRIORITY"

Stating that the US is only interested in rescuing its own citizens among the hostages in Gaza, Heiman said, "Unfortunately, my mother is only an Israeli citizen. The hostages released in the early days were American citizens. I do not think they are doing their best for everyone. Their priorities are their own citizens, US and European citizens. My mother is just an Israeli. She is a low priority for the international community."

"A SOLUTION IS POSSIBLE THROUGH A POLITICAL AGREEMENT"

Arguing that neither side is innocent in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Heiman expressed the view that a solution to this problem is possible not through military means, but through a political agreement.

Noting that both sides need to sit down and talk to reach a political agreement, Heiman said, "For a peace agreement, there must be an enemy, and Hamas is our enemy. A peace agreement is made with the enemy, not with a friend."

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, condemning the attacks carried out by Hamas in Israel on October 7, had said, "But we must also be aware that the Hamas attacks did not happen in a vacuum. The Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation. They have seen their land steadily devoured by settlements and plagued by violence. Their economy has been stifled, people have been displaced and their homes demolished. Their hopes for a political solution have been vanishing."

When asked whether she agreed with these words, Heiman said, "I agree with this. This is a long-standing conflict. Neither side is innocent in this conflict. Neither side has solved this through political means. They chose military means."

When asked whether Israeli society agrees with these views, Heiman replied:

"Many Israelis want an agreement but do not believe it is possible. I am involved in a movement called 'Women Wage Peace.' Our slogan is 'Yes, it is possible.' We also have a sister movement in Gaza and the West Bank called 'Women of the Sun'."

"ISRAEL IS WRONG REGARDING OCCUPATION AND BLOCKADE"

Noting that Israel is in the wrong regarding the blockade imposed on Gaza since 2007 and the occupation that has continued in the West Bank since 1967, Heiman stated that many Israelis are also angry at National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who are known for their anti-Palestinian fanatic views and practices.
