Istanbul Airport breaks passenger record in Europe
Istanbul Airport served 271,836 passengers on July 25, earning the title of the airport that has hosted the most passengers in a single day in Europe.
Istanbul Airport plays a significant role in global aviation by being located at the intersection of the European, Asian, and African continents. Thanks to its high-tech infrastructure and extensive flight network, it stands out as one of the key hubs for east-west and north-south air corridors. Offering seamless connections to more than 330 destinations, the airport has proven itself to be one of the centers of international aviation.
On July 25, Istanbul Airport served 134,750 arriving and 137,086 departing passengers, reaching a total of 271,836 passengers. This figure surpassed London Heathrow Airport, which previously held the record with 268,000 passengers on June 30, 2024. Additionally, with 1,695 air traffic movements carried out on July 8, the highest daily number of flights since its opening was reached.
These achievements once again highlight the importance of the strategic role Istanbul Airport plays in global aviation. IGA Istanbul Airport has registered this success by ranking first for the second consecutive time in the "World's Top 10 International Airports" survey by "Travel+Leisure" magazine.
