'Change' operation in 3 provinces centered in Istanbul: Network that put damaged vehicles on the market dismantled

The Istanbul Provincial Police Department's Public Security Branch teams launched an investigation into an organized crime group that committed fraud by transferring the identity information of vehicles that had become unusable due to heavy damage to other vehicles. Investigations revealed that the suspects adapted the chassis and engine numbers of crashed, burned, or earthquake-damaged vehicles to seized or wanted vehicles, putting them on the market using the "change" method.

PUT ON THE MARKET USING THE 'CHANGE' METHOD

Within the scope of the investigation conducted under the coordination of the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that the network obtained high profits by selling the vehicles they modified using this method through third parties. As a result of technical and physical surveillance, it was revealed that the organization carried out its fraudulent activities systematically.

SIMULTANEOUS OPERATION IN THREE PROVINCES

In line with the findings, police teams took action. A simultaneous operation was carried out in Samsun and Antalya, with Istanbul as the center. 16 suspects were detained in raids conducted on numerous addresses.

28 VEHICLES SEIZED

A total of 28 vehicles determined to have undergone the "change" process were seized during the operation. The detained suspects were taken to the Public Security Branch Directorate for processing.

It was reported that the investigation is continuing in a multifaceted manner.
