Yaşar Yavuz, one of the detained activists, expressed their determination with the words, "Even if Israel intervenes or stands in our way, we will go to Gaza. I do not mean this in terms of violence. We are unarmed, we are not going to any war. Our mission is humanitarian aid."

INVESTIGATION BY THE CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that it has launched an investigation into the Israeli navy regarding the detention of the Turkish activists.

In the statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated: "Regarding our (24) citizens who were detained as a result of the attack carried out in international waters by elements of the Israeli navy against the Global Sumud Flotilla, which was heading to Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid, an investigation has been launched by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office within the framework of the regulations in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, the jurisdiction rules in Article 15 of the Criminal Procedure Code No. 5271, and the duty rules in Articles 12/13 of the Turkish Penal Code No. 5237, under the crimes of 'Deprivation of Liberty', 'Hijacking or Detaining Means of Transportation', 'Qualified Plunder', 'Damage to Property', and 'Torture', and the investigation is being conducted in a multi-faceted manner. It is announced to the public."
