Istanbul Governor reacts to rising bread prices
Istanbul Governor Davut Gül expressed his reaction regarding the rising bread prices and requested that inspections be carried out.
Istanbul Governor Davut Gül met with district mayors and provincial and district directors of official institutions for an evaluation meeting.
"I INVITE YOU TO CONDUCT PRICE INSPECTIONS"
Emphasizing that the sale price of bread in Istanbul is 6.50 liras, Gül said, "In some places, bread is being sold for 9 liras or 10 liras. In order not to victimize our public on this matter, I invite our Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and our municipalities to conduct effective price inspections."
While the mayors who gave presentations voiced many problems, stray animals were listed as a common issue. Istanbul Governor Davut Gül stated that the current situation is the worst-case scenario regarding stray animals. Stating that spaying is the most definitive solution, Gül noted that increasing the number and capacity of animal shelters could also yield results in curbing the current problem.
Emphasizing that all municipalities should contribute to the financing needs of the animal shelters to be established in Istanbul, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül stressed that all solution proposals regarding the issue will be put on the table.
In a statement made by the Governor's Office, it was also said, "In his speech, Governor Davut Gül also touched upon the variability in bread sale prices in Istanbul. Emphasizing that the sale price of bread in Istanbul is 6.50 TL, Gül said, 'In some places, bread is being sold for 9 liras or 10 liras. In order not to victimize our public on this matter, I invite our Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and our municipalities to conduct effective price inspections.'"
