Istanbul Police Department announces traffic penalties: 15,000 drivers fined for illegal parking and carrying excess passengers
The Istanbul Police Department Traffic Inspection Branch announced that a total of 54,108 drivers were penalized during traffic inspections conducted between May 20 and May 26, 2024, including 23,832 drivers cited for various other violations of the Highway Traffic Law.
In an announcement made by the Istanbul Police Department, it was reported that 15,509 drivers were fined for illegal parking and carrying excess passengers, and 2,058 motorcycle riders were fined for failing to possess or wear helmets and gogglesas well as, 1,795 drivers for using mobile phones while driving, 899 drivers for not wearing seatbelts, and 618 drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol, 505 drivers for reckless lane changing, and 457 drivers for drifting and using modified exhausts among various other penal actions taken.
