Announces resignation from İYİ Party with a harsh statement

The İYİ Party, which did not find what it hoped for in the local elections it entered as "free and independent," is now experiencing the excitement of a congress.

While posts expressing loyalty to Meral Akşener are being made on one hand, striking resignations are coming one after another within the party. 

Most recently, İYİ Party Provincial Youth Branch President Muhammet Akyüz announced his resignation in a post on his social media account. 

Akyüz, who worked closely with İYİ Party's Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Buğra Kavuncu during the election period, explained his resignation with the following words:

"As of today, I am resigning from my position as the Provincial Youth Branch President of the İYİ Party. 

As you know, a local election took place last week. Unfortunately, we received votes far below our expectations everywhere, especially in Istanbul. The fact that all 40 of our candidates in Istanbul received votes in the 1-2% band was the greatest indicator that there is a general problem. For days, I had been waiting for an explanation regarding these results on my own behalf. However, I see that there is an atmosphere as if there are no problems in the party. While the message given by the citizens should have been analyzed well, we are faced with an attitude almost as if the election was a success. The decision to hold a congress 15 days later does not in any way reflect the election self-criticism I was expecting. (My decision has nothing to do with the congress process or the candidates.)

As someone who wanted cooperation and reported this to the headquarters, I fought by visiting districts every day after the 'free and independent' decision. Those who both supported this decision and sat idly by, setting aside areas of responsibility, have laid dynamite at the foundation of this party. Likewise, those who showed districts where we received 4% of the vote as 30% to polling companies have also detonated these dynamites. Those who have never worked in the field with wet feet in their lives do not know what kind of state of mind the disappointment caused by the polls creates. Therefore, they may think I am exaggerating on this issue; this is normal. 

I love our General Chair and our party very much. She has put a lot of effort into us; may God be pleased with her. I saw closely that she did everything in her power for us to win the 2023 general elections. However, we are currently witnessing a very unhealthy management process. I do not want to lose the love I have at the end of these processes. I always want to remember this place and the people here fondly. However, my fear is that this lack of control will cause us to make a big mistake for the constitutional referendum that awaits us. 

Over the last year, there have been issues where we were very right. We managed those rightful issues so poorly that all our righteousness evolved into the listing of municipalities that we only learned existed in Turkey when they were read from a paper. 

There will be those who are angry with me, but those who know me know that my heart is on my tongue. Speaking behind one's back, acting as if existing problems do not exist, and saying 'amen' to everything said has been the biggest problem of this party. I no longer see any possibility of anything improving in a place where hope is placed in people who are registered thieves just because they have 3-5 delegates in their hands. So, did I just realize all this now? No. A person always believes that whatever they love and belong to will improve, and they are patient in this direction. They evaluate the mistakes made as 'errors.' Especially after the election, I see that what happened is not an error but a deliberate suicide. Therefore, I realized that being patient for the bad trend to improve was of no use other than eating myself up from the inside. 

With all these thoughts, I am ending my duty in the party. I thank my elders who have contributed to me and my fellow travelers in the youth branches, each of whom I admire individually. I ask for everyone's blessing. If I have any rights, I forgive them. Respectfully.
