İYİ Party figure denies reports that 'Akşener is ready to take a state role'
While the repercussions of the meetings between former İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener and AKP Chair and President Erdoğan continue, it had been alleged that Akşener received an offer for the Vice Presidency during this meeting. It was claimed that İYİ Party member Akburak used the phrase 'ready to take a state role' for Akşener. Akburak stated that he made no such statement.
While the Akşener meeting remains on the agenda, it was reported that İYİ Party MP Burak Akburak made statements to SÖZCÜ TV following the meeting. However, a social media post came from Akburak stating that he did not make such a statement after the program.
In his first assessment during the television program he attended following the meeting, Akburak had used the following expressions:
“Our Chair is a leader who has been embraced by Turkey; in fact, one should be proud. Our Chair can hold any kind of meeting; she is considered the patron of the İYİ Party. After all, we as the İYİ Party were founded under difficult conditions. Turkey was stuck in a two-pole system. A centrist party needed to be established. Our Chair tried to do this,” he said.
“I HAVE NO INFORMATION”
Stating that he does not think Akşener will take a role within the state or the People's Alliance, Akburak had said, “I do not know whether she was offered a position or not. I have no information regarding the meeting. I will inevitably have some information. Does she make such a decision? Honestly, I don't predict it, but we cannot know.”
"IF THERE IS A VICE PRESIDENCY OFFER, IT WILL BE EVALUATED"
It was announced by Ece Üner on the program 'Sözün Gücü' on Sözcü TV that a new statement had come from İYİ Party MP Burak Akburak following the notable meeting. Üner said that Akburak had spoken with her and made statements on behalf of Akşener.
In his statements to SÖZCÜ, Akburak said the following:
- Akşener is ready for a state role.
- Akşener is angry about the allegations regarding her son.
- Akşener is angry at Dervişoğlu.
- If there is a Vice Presidency offer, it will be evaluated.

"SHE WILL NOT FOUND A NEW PARTY"
- Akşener will not found a new party.
- If Akşener is expelled, the İYİ Party will not remain.
- Erdoğan requested the meeting. The time of the meeting was decided one day prior.
- Her hair color was going to be different, this one was liked.
- Akşener will not meet with Bahçeli.
- We will see Akşener often from now on.
DENIAL MESSAGE FROM AKBURAK
Following the reports attributed to him, İYİ Party member Akburak made a post on his social media account and stated that he did not make the statements in question. Akburak used the following expressions:
"It has been said in some news sites that I gave a statement saying 'Akşener is ready for a state role' and 'she is angry at Dervişoğlu.' I have not made such a statement. I connected to Sözcü TV by phone live and conveyed this. I present this to the attention of the public."
