Izmir's dams are sounding the alarm! Occupancy rate drops to 15 percent
The occupancy rate at Tahtalı Dam, Izmir's largest water source, has fallen to 15.19 percent. This figure has been recorded as the lowest level in recent years. The threat of drought is at the door, and experts are warning about water conservation.
The dry winter months in Izmir are showing their negative effects on the dams as well.

WATER SITUATION IN IZMIR
Tahtalı Dam's water level has dropped to the 15 percent level. In 2024, the occupancy rate at Tahtalı Dam was at the 30 percent level.
The water occupancy rates in the other dams feeding the city are as follows:
Ürkmez Dam 25 percent
Balçova Dam 42 percent
Güzelhisar Dam 65 percent
