Journalist Tolga Şardan transferred to Istanbul

T24 columnist and journalist, who was arrested in Ankara on November 1 and sent to Sincan Prison as part of an investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Tolga Şardan, was transferred to Istanbul today.

It has been learned that Şardan was set on the road to Istanbul this evening upon the instructions of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which initiated the investigation. Şardan is expected to be transferred to Silivri Prison.

MÜYESSER YILDIZ HAD ANNOUNCED IT

In the report shared by 12punto.com.tr columnist and journalist Müyesser Yıldız, Tolga Şardan's lawyer had gone to the prison for a visit. According to the lawyer, the deputy prison warden provided information that Şardan would be transferred to Istanbul, noting that Tolga Şardan was being moved to Istanbul under the instructions of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Şardan was arrested by the Istanbul 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace, to which he was transferred, under Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK), which is part of the Disinformation Law, also known as the "Censorship Law", on charges of "publicly disseminating misleading information."
