Justice Minister Tunç's statement on the İmralı-DEM meeting: 'If you say you will challenge me'
The request for a visit submitted by the DEM Party immediately following MHP Chairman Bahçeli's remarks on Öcalan continues to remain on the agenda. While it remains unclear whether the request will be accepted, a statement has come from Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç.
Claims that the petition had been accepted were denied by both the DEM Party and the Ministry of Justice. Although almost everyone is expressing the opinion that the meeting will take place, the matter has not yet been clarified.
Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç made important statements to tv100 programmer Sinan Burhan regarding the İmralı-DEM meeting, which has been the subject of recent agenda debates, concerning the much-anticipated date and time.
"THE PROCESS IS ONGOING"
Burhan conveyed that in the statement Minister Tunç made to him, he said, "There is no finalized date regarding this issue. The process is ongoing. We cannot say 'on this day'."
IF YOU SAY 'I WILL CHALLENGE YOU', THIS IS THE ANSWER
Responding to Sinan Burhan's question, 'You used the expression "They should apply properly" towards the CHP Chairman. Why did you use such a harsh expression?', Minister Tunç said; "The state stands by the law. There are certain procedures. If you act without complying with these and say to the Minister of Justice, 'I will challenge you,' this is the answer you will receive. This is never my style. However, there is a limit to patience."
