Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç makes statements on the 'Newborn Gang' and 'Kılıçdaroğlu': 'Erdoğan gave the instruction'

Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç spoke about the investigation known to the public as the 'Newborn Gang,' in which 22 people are being held in custody.

STATEMENT ON THE NEWBORN GANG

Tunç stated the following:

The investigation has been deepened. During this process, evidence was collected within the framework of CMK 135-140 regarding technical surveillance and wiretapping. Our prosecutor's office was in contact with the Health Directorate. In this sense, as a result of an investigation lasting approximately 1 year regarding the identified criminal records and crimes, 47 people were detained on April 26, 2024. Among them are 4 doctors, 18 nurses, 112 emergency personnel, and hospital staff; 22 people have been arrested.

Judicial control measures were also imposed on 11 doctors. After the preparation of the indictment was completed, it was submitted to the Bakırköy High Criminal Court.

An investigation has also been launched regarding the threat against the prosecutor. Our judicial members perform their duties, and an investigation has been opened against those attempting to influence the judiciary in that context. Currently, the court is in the process of evaluating the indictment.

We will wait now; we will see what the allegations and evidence are once the indictment is accepted.

Tunç also said that President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gave the instruction that whatever is necessary must be done.

INSULT INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED AGAINST KILIÇDAROĞLU

Regarding the insult lawsuit filed against Kılıçdaroğlu, he said: "These are unacceptable words containing insults. They are not words befitting someone who has served as the chairman of the main opposition party. The request for evaluation for the criminal complaint will come to our ministry, and we will evaluate it. There is no benefit in engaging in politics with ugly and defamatory language. You are making ugly and indecent moves due to the situation in your own political party, but these are crimes."

ESPIONAGE LAW

Tunç also made the following assessments regarding the regulation known to the public as the Espionage Law:

The 9th Judicial Package is a package carried over to this year; there are also 22 articles of Constitutional Court cancellation decisions. It is a matter stemming from misunderstandings in the public regarding what is included in the 9th Package. It is not about 'influence agents'; there is no such provision in the draft law. The law contains a provision stating that those who commit crimes against the military and political interests of the Republic of Turkey in favor of or for the benefit of another state or organization will be punished.

Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç announced that the indictment to be prepared as a result of the investigation into the murder of Narin Güran in Diyarbakır will be submitted to the court this week.
