Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç made a statement regarding HÜDA-PAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu's remarks that 'States, autonomy, and federation should be freely discussable.'
HÜDA-PAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu, who was elected as an Istanbul deputy from the AKP lists, stated in his speech during the budget negotiations that "States, autonomy, and federation should be freely discussable."
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç made a statement regarding Yapıcıoğlu's remarks, which caused public backlash.
Tunç's statements are as follows;
"It is out of the question for these to be discussed. It is impossible to accept these. The third article of our Constitution is clear. The Republic of Turkey is an indivisible whole with its country and nation, and this third article is among the unchangeable articles of our Constitution. Therefore, there is no situation where unchangeable articles can be discussed."
'IMMUNITY' STATEMENT
Speaking about the immunity files in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), Tunç said, "Our fight against terrorism will continue. Our fight against those who hold the tongs of terrorism will also continue. Where terrorism is discussed, human rights cannot be discussed. Our deputies in the TBMM must stand with the state and the nation. It is necessary to say words that align with the expectations of the nation. If you say words that support terrorism, this matter will be referred to the judiciary. There are approximately 800 immunity files, and the vast majority are related to terrorism. The commissions will make decisions regarding the joint commissions. 52 individuals were detained regarding the DEM Party's event in Diyarbakır. There are issues there that constitute a crime."
CONSTITUTIONAL COURT'S CAN ATALAY RULING
Answering a question regarding the Constitutional Court's (AYM) ruling on Can Atalay, Minister Tunç said, "Some discussions have arisen regarding the rulings of the AYM. As long as the articles of the Constitution do not change, these provisions must be applied. Both the Constitutional Court and the Court of Cassation will be bound by the Constitution. There is a constitution that both the AYM and the Court of Cassation are obliged to implement."
SOMALI PRESIDENT'S SON TO GIVE STATEMENT
Speaking about the accident involving the son of the President of Somalia, which resulted in the death of motorcycle courier Yunus Emre Göçer, Tunç said, "The report has arrived from the Council of Forensic Medicine. The report states that the vehicle driver was primarily at fault and the courier was partially at fault. Within the framework of this result, a lawsuit will be filed and the investigation will continue. Our judiciary will protect the rights and laws of our citizens. An indictment will be prepared within the framework of the expert report. The relevant person will also come from abroad and give their statement."
