While the footage of comedian Deniz Göktaş being detained with his hands cuffed behind his back has become a topic of public discussion, a statement on the matter also came from Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

Sharing on his social media account, Kılıçdaroğlu reacted to the detention procedure applied within the scope of the investigation conducted against Göktaş and the resulting footage.

HE REACTED TO THE DETENTION FOOTAGE

Evaluating the detention footage in his post, Kılıçdaroğlu stated that Deniz Göktaş returned to the country of his own volition despite the investigation against him.

Stating that Göktaş entered Turkey with his backpack on his back and in casual clothes, Kılıçdaroğlu argued that this situation demonstrates there is no suspicion of him fleeing.

"HIS STATEMENT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN AND HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN RELEASED"

In his statement, Kılıçdaroğlu expressed that if there was a complaint against Göktaş, he should have been released after his statement was taken.

In his post, Kılıçdaroğlu criticized the procedure, stating, "If there is a complaint, you take his statement, then you release him. Isn't it clear that there is no suspicion of him fleeing?"

"BEING HANDCUFFED BEHIND HIS BACK IS UNACCEPTABLE"

In his post, Kılıçdaroğlu also reacted to the application of handcuffs behind the back during the detention and the fact that these images were reflected to the public.

In his statement, he used the following expressions: "I watched this footage with devastation. Despite the investigation against him, Deniz Göktaş returned to his country with his backpack on his back and his t-shirt on. If there is a complaint, you take his statement, then you release him. Isn't it clear that there is no suspicion of him fleeing? It is unacceptable for him to be handcuffed behind his back and for these images to be shared. Deniz should be free."
