Knife attack on Saadet Party members during election campaign
The Saadet Party Istanbul Provincial Presidency announced that party members conducting election campaign activities with Yaşar Avcı, the party's mayoral candidate for Bahçelievler, were subjected to a knife attack.
It was reported that during the attack, insults and threats were directed at Saadet Party leader Temel Karamollaoğlu and the party members.
The full statement issued by the Saadet Party's Istanbul Provincial Presidency is as follows:
“On March 22 - yesterday - our Bahçelievler Mayoral Candidate Yaşar Avcı and our organization members, who were visiting shopkeepers as part of election campaign activities, were subjected to a knife attack.
The attackers used sentences containing insults and threats directed at our Chairman Mr. Temel Karamollaoğlu, our community, and our organization members.

Despite the scuffle and chaos that was attempted to be incited, thanks to the common sense of our organization members, the incident was overcome without escalating, but unfortunately, one of our organization members was subjected to a knife attack.
While the health condition of our organization member is quite good, a criminal complaint has been filed against the attackers, and they were taken into custody in the evening.
The investigation regarding the suspects is being meticulously followed by our lawyers. We once again convey our best wishes for a speedy recovery to our Mayoral Candidate Mr. Yaşar Avcı and our organization members.”
