Koray Aydın, İYİ Party presidential candidate at the congress, lashes out at Akşener

As the extraordinary congress approaches for the İYİ Party, one of the candidates for the chairmanship, Koray Aydın, answered questions from journalists Kübra Par and Erdoğan Aktaş on TV100.

While Koray Aydın stated that he had advocated for an alliance with the CHP in the local elections, he remarked that if elected, "We will not move closer to the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı). We will fight against it."

"INTENSE PRESSURE FROM PARTY MEMBERS"

Stating that he did not initially intend to run for office, Aydın explained that he became a candidate as a result of intense pressure from party members. Noting that he is running for chairman to build a strong İYİ Party against the AKP, Aydın said he would open the party up to young people.

EVALUATED MHP CHAIRMAN BAHÇELİ'S CALL

Koray Aydın said that some figures within the party were making efforts for Meral Akşener to continue as chair, and regarding the "stay" call made to Akşener by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, he said, "It could be perceived as 'come to our side.'"

"WE SHOULD HAVE FORMED AN ALLIANCE WITH THE CHP"

Stating that he finds the claims that he would move the party toward the MHP if he becomes chairman to be laughable, Koray Aydın said, "An alliance should have been formed with the CHP in the local elections."

AYDIN'S STATEMENT ON YAVAŞ AND İMAMOĞLU

Stating that he had advocated for a smooth transition within the party regarding the withdrawal from the alliance, Aydın said, "We should have supported Mansur Yavaş and Ekrem İmamoğlu." Koray Aydın also noted that he did not find Meral Akşener's harsh rhetoric toward Yavaş and İmamoğlu to be correct, adding, "The voters punished the harsh rhetoric."

“WE WILL STRUGGLE AGAINST THE PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE”

When asked whether he would support Mansur Yavaş as a presidential candidate in 2028 if he were to become party chairman, Aydın replied, "There is still a long way to go until 2028."

Stating that he would bring back those who had left the party, Aydın said, "We will not move closer to the People's Alliance. We will struggle against them. 95 percent of our voters are in opposition to the government."

“WE LEARNED OUR LOVE FOR ATATÜRK FROM TÜRKEŞ”

Emphasizing that they are an opposition party against the AKP and drawing attention to their commitment to Atatürk's principles, Aydın said, "We learned our love for Atatürk from Türkeş."
