Küçük reacts to AKP member calling Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe 'match-fixers': 'It will backfire'

The Trabzonspor-Fenerbahçe derby played last week in the Trendyol Super Lig turned into a major scandal with the final whistle of the match.

While the chaos created by fans jumping onto the pitch led to undesirable scenes, remarks that drew the reaction of millions were made at a press conference organized by the Trabzonspor management and the city's leading figures.

'MATCH-FIXER' REMARK FROM AKP CANDIDATE

Commenting on the post-match incidents at the meeting, Ahmet Metin Genç, whom the AKP nominated for the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality for March 31, used the term 'match-fixers' for the Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş clubs.

While millions of fans of both clubs responded harshly to the statement in question, the clubs also issued responses containing strong reactions to the expressions used.

PRO-GOVERNMENT JOURNALIST ALSO REACTED

In a post on his social media account, Cem Küçük stated, "You call Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş match-fixers. Especially when all court cases have concluded and both teams have been cleared. Then you will ask for votes from the fans of these teams. The AK Party may get votes in Trabzon with this rhetoric, but it will backfire across the country."
