Land registry director who queried Akın Gürlek's property records detained

A judicial process has been initiated after M.D., a Land Registry Director serving in the Çobanlar district of Afyonkarahisar, queried the property records belonging to Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek. It was reported that the transaction in question is being investigated under the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK).

It was reported that the query was performed on February 12, 2026, at 15:38. Following this development, M.D. was detained by teams from the Afyonkarahisar Provincial Police Department upon the instructions of the prosecutor's office. It was learned that the suspect's processing at the police station is ongoing.

According to information in the investigation file, it was alleged that M.D. was in contact with former CHP Afyonkarahisar Provincial Chairman Faruk Duha Erhan through an individual named A.S. Furthermore, it was claimed that the parties met more than once following the land registry query and that location data regarding these meetings exists.

On the other hand, the file also included information that M.D.'s son, B.D., works as a chief at a hospital in the city and that his testimony was sought in 2025 as part of a FETÖ investigation.
