Lawsuit filed against 13 public officials regarding nightclub fire: 29 people had died
A lawsuit has been filed seeking up to 17 years in prison for 13 individuals, including the then-deputy mayor of Beşiktaş Municipality, the licensing and inspection manager, and the deputy head of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality fire department, in connection with the fire that broke out during renovations at a nightclub in Beşiktaş, resulting in the deaths of 29 people.
Regarding the fire that resulted in the deaths of 29 people, prison sentences of up to 17 years each have been requested for 13 individuals, including the then-deputy mayor of Beşiktaş Municipality, the licensing and inspection manager, and the deputy head of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality fire department.
In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office with a request for consolidation, the then-Deputy Mayor of Beşiktaş Municipality Ali Rıza Yılmaz, Fire Sergeant Fazlı Yavuz, former Fire and Police Chief Numan Bulburu, Tuncay Akdağ, Şükrü Öztürk, Ahmet Koray Bayraktaroğlu, Ahmet Mithat Şermet, Feridun Tayfun Erelmas, Lalehan Taşdelen Başkaya, Nilüfer Oğuz, Rahşan Tekin Ölmez, Uğur Türkyılmaz, and Yasemin Saral were included as defendants.

In the indictment, it was requested that the defendants be sentenced to prison terms ranging from 2 years and 6 months to 17 years each for the crimes of "misconduct in office" and "causing the death of more than one person by negligence."
The prepared indictment was consolidated with the main case file, which is currently being tried at the Istanbul 33rd High Criminal Court.
