Lawsuit filed by Oğuz Murat Aci's parents against their daughter-in-law

The hearing continued for the lawsuit filed by the parents of 29-year-old Oğuz Murat Aci, who lost his life in a traffic accident caused by 17-year-old Timur Cihantimur in Eyüpsultan in 2024, alleging that their daughter-in-law, Şükriye Aci, is not allowing them to see their grandchild. After the hearing, the father, Özer Aci, said, "Will the child even recognize me after all this time? We have lost a 29-year-old child and buried him in the ground. We are trying to look after our child's child; are we committing a crime?"

Lawsuit filed by Oğuz Murat Aci's parents against their daughter-in-law

The hearing continued for the lawsuit filed by Özer Aci and Pervin Aci, the parents of 29-year-old Oğuz Murat Aci, who lost his life in a traffic accident caused by 17-year-old Timur Cihantimur in Eyüpsultan on March 1, 2024, against their daughter-in-law, Şükriye Aci, alleging that she is not allowing them to see their grandchild.

Plaintiffs Özer Aci and Pervin Aci were present at the preliminary hearing held at the Istanbul Family Court. Lawyers for both parties also attended the hearing.

REQUEST FOR INTERIM PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP ESTABLISHMENT

During the hearing, the plaintiffs' lawyer, Hacı Orhan, stated that they reiterated their petition and requested the establishment of a personal relationship as an interim measure.

The defendant's lawyer requested that a new report be obtained from a committee that also includes a child psychiatrist.

It was ruled that a child psychiatrist should be included in the committee.

Announcing its interim decision, the court decided to send the file to the Directorate of Judicial Support and Victim Services to evaluate the objections of the defendant's lawyer and ordered that a child psychiatrist be included in the committee. The court also ruled that the request for the establishment of an interim personal relationship would be evaluated once the additional report is received, and adjourned the hearing.

"TWO YEARS HAVE PASSED. WILL THE CHILD EVEN RECOGNIZE ME AFTER ALL THIS TIME?"

Speaking in front of the courthouse after the hearing, Özer Aci said, "A report will be obtained, and the judge will make a decision based on that report. After all this time, 2 years have passed. Will the child even recognize me after all this time? Out of sight is out of mind. I do not understand how the court is making such a decision regarding a person who carries my surname. What will happen if I see this child in 3-4 years, or if I don't? We have lost a 29-year-old child and buried him in the ground. We are trying to look after our child's child; are we committing a crime? They should excuse me, but this is wrong."

"IS IT NOT MY RIGHT TO SEE MY CHILD'S CHILD?"

Pervin Aci said, "I want my child, I don't want anyone else. I want my grandchild who carries my surname. Is it not my right to see my child's child?"
