Leader of gang collaborating with drug traffickers turns out to be a major
In the Lice district of Diyarbakır, a 20-year prison sentence has been requested for gendarmerie officials accused of turning a blind eye to drug trafficking and accepting bribes. It has emerged that the leader of the gang is a major.
In the Lice district of Diyarbakır, a lawsuit has been filed against 24 people, including District Gendarmerie Commander Major Çağlar Sakinci, Captain Selim Oğul, and Petty Officer Hasan Uçar, on charges of collaborating with drug barons who provide financing to the terrorist organization PKK and obstructing operations. A 20-year prison sentence is being sought for each of the defendants.
According to the report by Özgür Cebe from Sözcü, the indictment states that Major Sakinci received 1 million dollars from drug baron Şerafettin Altuntop and 3 million liras from villagers, and that despite being reassigned, he obtained medical reports to remain in the district and turn a blind eye to drug cultivation. Secret witnesses stated that Altuntop told villagers "Çağlar's word is my word" and that the money was delivered in cafes.
SECRET MEETINGS AND ASSASSINATION
It was determined that Selim Oğul told his subordinates "If there is a field, look the other way" and that 20 thousand dollars were left at a jeweler, while 65 thousand dollars were given after the harvest. Furthermore, it was determined that Major Sakinci held encrypted account conversations with drug baron Askeri Kaya in Ankara, and that Oğul held a 6-hour meeting with Kaya. It was also established that Kaya entered and exited the Gendarmerie station without being registered.
During this process, former village guard Yüksel Bayrak, who gave testimony in the file, was assassinated before the court process began. Bayrak was killed by a single gunshot to the back of his head. It was revealed that the assassination took place 5 days before the indictment was accepted and was carried out by 15-year-old H.B., the nephew of Bayrak's wife. In his statement, H.B. said, "I killed him because he treated my aunt badly."
