In Istanbul, a dispute broke out between neighbors living in a luxury residential complex over a 'water leak.' A lawsuit has been filed against the individual who went to his upstairs neighbor's door and fired 5 shots, seeking a life sentence for 'attempted intentional homicide.'

In Istanbul's Pendik district, a resident of a luxury complex, Ahmet Akdemir (35), had been having issues for some time with his downstairs neighbor, Kürşat Aktaş (47), due to water leaking from his bathroom into the neighbor's apartment.

On June 23, 2023, following another argument between them, Aktaş took his unlicensed firearm and Aktaş, Akdemir's apartment. Ahmet Akdemir was shot 5 times by his neighbor as he opened the door. It was determined that Akdemir, who was taken to the hospital, Akdemir had sustained fractures and that his vital functions were severely affected.

Detained following the incident, Kürşat Aktaş stated in his testimony that during a phone call with Ahmet Akdemir prior to the incident, Akdemir had insulted him, and that when he went to his door, his neighbor grabbed him by the throat and assaulted him, claiming he fired in self-defense. He was subsequently arrested and sent to prison.

The Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has completed the investigation into the incident.

In the prepared indictment, Kürşat Aktaş faces a request for a life sentence for the crime of 'attempted intentional homicide.' Additionally, a prison sentence of one to three years was requested for the crime of 'carrying or possessing unlicensed firearms and ammunition.'
