Livestock markets become active

As Eid al-Adha approaches, the intensity at the licensed livestock market in the Şarkışla district of Sivas is hard to miss. In the market, which has a capacity of 10 thousand animals, citizens looking for sacrificial animals and sellers come together, especially on Saturdays.

With small and large cattle brought by breeders from surrounding provinces, the market begins to bustle from the early hours of the day. Feyzullah Doğan, who came to the market from Kayseri, emphasized that the demand for sacrificial animals remains at a certain level every year, stating, "Generally, young and meaty animals are preferred. Just as every product has a buyer, every sacrificial animal has a buyer. This year, sheep prices range between 18 and 22 thousand liras."

Aydın Yılmaz, one of the market's regulars, expressed that buyers find the prices reasonable during this period. Yılmaz assessed the situation by saying, "Currently, the prices are considered reasonable according to the buyers. The market is volatile; when the number of animals is high, this is reflected in the prices. However, in general, the animals are being sold at their value."

The intensity in the market is expected to continue increasing until Eid al-Adha. Market tradesmen and producers state that these busy days will both be reflected in sales and contribute to the regional economy.
