Lütfi Arıboğan’s prosecutor testimony in FETÖ match-fixing conspiracy investigation revealed: Mehmet Baransu confession!

The prosecutor's testimony of former TFF Vice President Lütfi Arıboğan, who was released with a travel ban and judicial control conditions after being detained as part of the FETÖ match-fixing conspiracy investigation in football, has caused a wide stir in public opinion. According to Erkin's article, one of the most important questions asked to Arıboğan by the prosecutor's office concerned the content and reason for sending an email titled "Police Department Letter and Name List." The email, dated December 7, 2011, was sent from Arıboğan's address to Mehmet Baransu, and it was noted that a detention list was attached. The prosecutor's office had asked about the content of this document, the source from which it was obtained, and the purpose of sending it.

"THE LIST WAS CORRECT"

Arıboğan admitted that the email belonged to him. In his testimony, he stated that at the time, the police were publishing a list of individuals who were detained and released, that the TFF also received this list, and that Arıboğan, at the request of Mehmet Ali Aydınlar, forwarded the "correct list" to Mehmet Baransu. Arıboğan noted that this list, sent by the Istanbul Police Department, contained information about "60 people," in contrast to the incorrect "90 people" figure given by the then-TFF President Aydınlar in a phone statement.

"CONTACTS WERE WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF JOURNALISTIC ACTIVITY"

The article also included the testimony of Mehmet Baransu taken on September 29, 2025. The prosecutor's office had asked Baransu about the fact that he had contacted Arıboğan a total of 101 times, and that these contacts took place on 52 different days. Baransu stated that he did not remember all of the contacts and that his contact with Arıboğan could have been "within the scope of journalistic activity."

ARIBOĞAN AGAIN USES "I DO NOT REMEMBER" DEFENSE

The prosecutor's office, reminding Arıboğan of the digital examination report dated September 22, 2025, which emerged as a result of the examination of Baransu's digital materials, asked him again about the alleged phone calls and messages he had with Baransu. Arıboğan replied, "I do not remember," and stated that he had no such relationship. Upon the prosecutor's office's question regarding the message dated January 10, 2013, which read, "My dear Mehmet, I am in a board meeting, I will call you," he similarly said, "I do not remember."

According to Erkin's article, another important detail included in the prosecutor's file was the allegation that Aziz Yıldırım's testimony was sent by Arıboğan to certain individuals. It was claimed that Yıldırım's testimony was delivered to Arıboğan and then forwarded to certain people.
