Man dies after bear attack while sleeping in front of his house

A bear attack that occurred during the night in the Karakoç area of Doğanbey Neighborhood in İzmir's Seferihisar district has claimed a life. 70-year-old Osman Güntaş, who was sleeping on a sofa in front of his house, was attacked by a bear that had descended into the area.

Upon notification of the situation by those nearby to the 112 Emergency Call Center, gendarmerie and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Seriously injured, Güntaş was taken to Seferihisar Necat Hepkon State Hospital following initial intervention by medical teams.

DIED IN THE HOSPITAL

Osman Güntaş, who was later transferred to Dokuz Eylül University Research and Application Hospital due to the severity of his condition, could not be saved despite all medical interventions.

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED IN THE AREA

Following the attack, teams from the gendarmerie and the Branch Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks conducted an investigation in the area. It was learned that the teams are continuing their search efforts to locate the bear.
