Man who destroyed his family in Istanbul's Beyoğlu has died

In the Hacıahmet neighborhood of Istanbul's Beyoğlu district, an incident occurred last Sunday at approximately 18:30, when police were notified after gunshots were heard coming from a house. Upon receiving the report, police teams quickly arrived at the scene and, upon entering the apartment, encountered a horrific scene. Seeing a total of 5 people, including 3 children, lying on the ground covered in blood, the police teams had 33-year-old Özgür Nayman, who was critically injured, transported by ambulance to a private hospital in Taksim by medical teams.

FIRST HIS FAMILY, THEN HIMSELF

Shortly after the incident, the details of the horror came to light. The police determined that Özgür Nayman had a total of 7 records for "violation of the law on firearms," "drug trafficking," "drug use," and "deprivation of liberty." Nayman, who killed his 40-year-old wife Sevilay Nayman and their children, 9-year-old Özgür Buğra, 7-year-old Hezdar Alaz, and 4-year-old Çınar Ali, then attempted suicide by shooting himself in the head. It had also emerged that he had shared a suicide note on his social media account before the incident.

THE FAMILY IS GONE

Özgür Nayman, who was taken to a private hospital in Taksim by ambulance in critical condition, could not be saved despite all interventions by medical teams. While no one from the family survived, Özgür Nayman also lost his life.

DRUGS HAD BEEN FOUND

While a comprehensive investigation into the incident continues, new details had also emerged. Following the incident, police teams conducted a long investigation in the house and found a narcotic substance known as cocaine in the bedroom. It was revealed that the perpetrator of the incident, Özgür Nayman, was under the influence of cocaine. Additionally, it was alleged that the individual had suffered a nervous breakdown and gone into a frenzy.

THERE WERE DISPUTES BETWEEN THE COUPLE'S FAMILIES

On the other hand, within the scope of the ongoing investigation into the families, police teams had obtained information that there had been long-standing hostility between the families of Özgür Nayman and his wife, frequent arguments, and that there were problems in both his own family and his wife's family due to Özgür Nayman's unemployment and drug use. According to the information obtained, the couple's families, who came to the front of the house after the incident, had argued while blaming each other.
