Another investigation permit for Mansur Yavaş!
The Ministry of Interior has granted permission for an investigation into Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş and 38 municipal council members on allegations of "misconduct in office." In a statement regarding the investigation, the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) said, "The investigation in question was initiated because of the prevention of irregular zoning increases made during the Melih Gökçek era."
It has been learned that the Ministry of Interior has granted permission for an investigation into Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş and a total of 39 municipal council members. It was stated that the decision stems from a process concerning an area of approximately 90 hectares located in the İncek neighborhood of Ankara's Gölbaşı district.
According to the pro-government newspaper Yeni Şafak, the zoning plans previously in effect for the area in question had been found unlawful and canceled by the administrative judiciary as a result of lawsuits filed. It was stated that this cancellation decision became final on October 21, 2025.
CLAIM: THE MUNICIPALITY DID NOT COMPLY WITH THE CANCELLATION DECISION
According to the allegations, the municipal council did not make the necessary adjustments despite the court's cancellation decision. In its assessment regarding the ministry's investigation permit, it was claimed that court decisions were not implemented and that actions contrary to these decisions continued in the council.
INVESTIGATION PERMIT FOR YAVAŞ AND 38 MEMBERS
The Ministry of Interior, concluding that the crime of "misconduct in office" had been committed and that this situation was continuous, granted permission for an investigation into Mansur Yavaş and 38 municipal council members.
STATEMENT FROM THE ANKARA METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY
The following was recorded in a written statement made by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality regarding the investigation in question:
"In some media outlets, news has been circulated that the Ministry of Interior has granted permission for an investigation into Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş and 39 Metropolitan Municipality Council Members.
The truth of the matter is as follows:
The investigation in question was initiated because of the prevention of irregular zoning increases made during the Melih Gökçek era. There is no irregular zoning increase. On the contrary, the decision regarding the veto of the irregular zoning increase granted to the Dodurga region is the subject of this investigation. On the other hand, there are serious allegations, which have also been reflected in the public eye, regarding the expert involved in the investigation permit process. This expert is the same expert who has previously taken part in other files where an investigation permit was granted against Mansur Yavaş, who was alleged to have met with Melih Gökçek on this matter, and against whom a criminal complaint was filed by Mansur Yavaş for this reason. It is understood that the expert in question is also involved in this file. All our legal objections are being made. A detailed statement will be shared with the public after the objection process is completed."
FIRST REACTION FROM THE CHP
The first statement from the Republican People's Party (CHP) regarding the investigation permit granted for Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş has arrived. CHP Deputy Chairman Burhanettin Bulut reacted to the granting of an investigation permit to Yavaş for the second time, stating, "It is not legal, it is political." Bulut said, "Those who grant an investigation permit to Mansur Yavaş will be condemned in the conscience of the nation."
Burhanettin Bulut made the following assessments in a statement he made via his social media account:
'The Ministry of Interior granting an investigation permit for the second time against our Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş on the allegation of "misconduct in office" is not legal, it is political. Even mentioning misconduct in office and Mansur Yavaş in the same sentence is absurd. The people of Ankara know very well who is abusing their office and who is serving this city day and night. Those who grant an investigation permit to Mansur Yavaş, who uses Ankara's resources for the people of Ankara, puts an end to the order of waste, adopts transparency as a principle, clearly accounts for every penny to his people, and produces services with justice without discriminating against anyone, will be condemned in the conscience of the nation.'
INVESTIGATION PERMIT WAS ALSO GRANTED IN NOVEMBER
On November 22, an investigation permit was granted by the Ministry of Interior for ABB Mayor Mansur Yavaş and his Chief of Staff Nevzat Uzunoğlu within the scope of allegations of irregularities regarding the concert expenditures of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality.
