Mansur Yavaş refutes pro-government journalist's 'tea and soup' claim: 'Completely untrue and an outright lie'

The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) has strongly denied a claim by journalist Sinan Burhan, known for his proximity to the government, that Mansur Yavaş rejected a request for "tea, soup, and simit" made by Özgür Özel. In the statement issued, the claims were described as "slander and deliberate manipulation."

The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality released a written statement in response to the claims made by Millet Haber Ajansı Editor-in-Chief Sinan Burhan, who alleged that a request for tea, soup, and simit to be served to the crowd gathered in front of the CHP Headquarters was turned down by Mansur Yavaş.

"A NEW FABRICATION IS BEING SERVED TO THE PUBLIC"

In the statement made by the municipality, it was stated that the claims were completely baseless, and the following remarks were included:

"The claims voiced by Millet Haber Ajansı Editor-in-Chief Sinan Burhan, stating that 'tea, soup, and simit were requested from Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş for the protesters, and that Mr. Yavaş rejected this,' are completely untrue and an outright lie. While it was revealed in a short time that the previously made baseless claim that 'a municipal truck was requested and not sent' was also untrue, a new fabrication is now being served to the public."

"WE INVITE HIM TO PROVE HIS CLAIMS"

The statement argued that journalist Sinan Burhan continues to spread slanderous claims under the guise of "insider information" without asking the relevant parties or feeling the need to verify them, emphasizing that the baseless news is a deliberate attempt at manipulation. The ABB concluded its statement with the following challenge:

"Moreover, the claim in question was voiced on TV100 screens yesterday, and this claim was refuted by us. Despite this, the attempt to serve the same lie as if it were true on social media today is a deliberate effort at manipulation. These claims have no basis in reality. We invite those who put forward and spread these lies, which are constantly aimed at misleading the public, to prove their claims."
