Mansur Yavaş responds to presidential candidacy call: Points to Özgür Özel's words

The Republican People's Party (CHP) Ankara Provincial Advisory Board meeting was held the other day at the Necmettin Erbakan Culture Center.

It was learned that during the meeting, suggestions from party members regarding the future were received and that Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş also delivered a speech.

According to the report by Cumhuriyet, it was noted that at the end of his speech, in which Yavaş spoke about the success in the local elections, some members in the hall called on Yavaş to become a presidential candidate.

HE REMINDED THEM OF ÖZEL'S WORDS

Upon this, it was stated that Yavaş pointed the party members to the words of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel: “There are currently two strikers on the team. One is Mansur Yavaş, the other is Ekrem İmamoğlu. When a penalty is won in the last minute of a match, the coach does not say, ‘Let me take it.’ He lets his most in-form player take it. When the day comes, one of our friends will be the presidential candidate.”

It was learned that Yavaş said, “Our chairman honored us. He included me when he said, ‘I have two strikers.’ I am the ABB Mayor. I will not bring this subject up until a concrete presidential process emerges. When a concrete process emerges, we will do whatever the party and the chairman deem appropriate.” Party members also stated that Yavaş gave the message, “I have built my future with the CHP.”

On the other hand, speaking about the general atmosphere of the advisory board meetings held in Ankara, party members assessed, “There is generally an atmosphere of satisfaction within the party. There is a mood at the grassroots that looks to the future with hope and believes in coming to power, and this also provides motivation for work.”
