The March 31 local elections are behind us: When will the YSK announce the final results?

Turkey went to the polls and determined its local administrators. According to the unofficial results, the CHP, which won 35 municipalities including 14 metropolitan cities, became the party with the most votes across Turkey. All eyes are now on the data to be announced by the Supreme Election Council (YSK)... So, when will the YSK announce the final results?

Turkey went to the polls yesterday (March 31) to elect its local administrators.

According to the unofficial results, the Republican People's Party (CHP), which received 37.7 percent of the vote nationwide, emerged as the leading party in an election for the first time in 47 years. The AKP, which received 35.5 percent of the vote, fell to second place in an election for the first time since its founding year in 2001.

The CHP received over 17 million votes, while the AKP received over 16 million.

The surprise party of the election was the YRP, which closed its doors to an alliance with the AKP. Reaching a vote share of 6.2 percent, the YRP became the third-largest party across Turkey.

ALL EYES ON THE YSK

While the CHP emerged victorious from March 31, all eyes have turned to the final results to be announced by the Supreme Election Council (YSK).

According to the report on NTV; the objection process has begun as of today.

Objections will first be made to the District Election Boards until 15.00 on April 2.

There are provinces and districts where the results are very close and objections may be filed. Looking at the provinces; objections may come from Kırklareli, Hatay, Iğdır, Bitlis, Hakkari, Burdur, Artvin, Ardahan, and Kütahya.

Objections are also expected in districts where the results are close.

HOW WILL THE PROCESS PROCEED?

The District Election Board must decide on the objections by 17.00 on April 4.

If the objections are rejected, objection processes to the Provincial Election Boards for cancellation will be organized and will end on April 5.

The Provincial Election Boards will make their decisions within 2 days, and the results will be announced on Sunday, April 7.

If a decision is not finalized there, the process for the YSK will begin.

Political parties must apply to the YSK within 3 days. The objection process will end on April 10.

The YSK will also have a 3-day period to decide on these objections.

The final results will be announced by the YSK on April 13, after all objections have been resolved.
