Fraud warning to citizens from MASAK: 'There is a file against you'
The Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) has announced that citizens should not trust individuals who contact them with misleading statements such as "There is a MASAK file against you."
In a statement issued by MASAK, it was stated that it has been determined that some individuals are sending text messages (SMS) to citizens, posing as law firms, and attempting to commit fraud by requesting contact through misleading statements such as "There is a MASAK file against you."
The statement further noted that it has been identified that some individuals are posing as MASAK employees, offering various job opportunities and alleged solutions under the guise of providing information regarding work conducted by the Board, in attempts to commit fraud. The following was recorded:
"It is important for our citizens not to trust such baseless and intentional attempts that clearly aim to commit fraud, and to report such situations to the competent authorities if they encounter them, in order to prevent potential victimization."
The Board also shared a public service announcement regarding the matter.
