A simultaneous operation was carried out in 8 provinces targeting a criminal network that defrauded citizens with fake bungalow rental advertisements across Turkey. A total of 210 million lira in unauthorized transactions were identified, and 9 suspects were arrested.
In a comprehensive operation coordinated by the Diyarbakır Police Department and conducted by Cybercrime units, suspects who committed fraud under the guise of "bungalow rentals" via websites and social media were targeted. Within the scope of the investigation, it was understood that hundreds of people across the country had been victimized.
As part of the operation, simultaneous raids were also carried out in Istanbul, İzmir, Manisa, Gaziantep, Bursa, Samsun, and Zonguldak. A total of 15 suspects, determined to have obtained illicit income from citizens through fake rental pages created in the digital environment, were taken into custody.
In the MASAK report prepared as a result of financial investigations, it was revealed that a total transaction volume of 210 million 58 thousand 259 TL had occurred in the bank and cryptocurrency accounts belonging to the suspects. It was determined that the income in question was derived from criminal activity.
Following their procedures at the police station, 9 of the suspects were arrested at the courthouse to which they were referred and sent to prison. Judicial control measures were applied to the other 6 individuals.
Authorities warned citizens to be cautious, especially regarding bungalow and daily house rental advertisements on social media and websites, and emphasized that transactions should only be made through reliable and well-known platforms to avoid becoming victims.
