Mayor had been arrested: Acting Mayor of Silivri Municipality determined
Following the arrest of Silivri Mayor Bora Balcıoğlu, CHP member Yalçın Ekici was elected as acting mayor during the municipal council vote.
Remarkable developments took place in the Silivri district of Istanbul this morning. The name to replace Mayor Bora Balcıoğlu, who was arrested after being detained as part of recent investigations into CHP-run municipalities and subsequently suspended by the Ministry of Interior, has been determined.
The Silivri District Municipal Council held an extraordinary meeting at 10:00 AM within the framework of the schedule set by the Istanbul Governorship. The first item on the agenda was the election of an acting mayor to replace the mayor. While Yalçın Ekici was nominated as the candidate for the CHP group, the AKP chose not to field a candidate in the council, and the MHP did not participate in the vote.

The election process was completed in three rounds. In all rounds of the voting, in which 25 council members cast their votes, CHP candidate Yalçın Ekici received 20 votes, while 5 votes were counted as blank or invalid. Having secured the majority at the end of the third round, Ekici began his duty as the new acting mayor.
The distribution of votes in the final election was as follows:
Yalçın Ekici: 20 votes Blank/Invalid: 5 votes
