Media Ombudsman Faruk Bildirici, who was registered as an AKP member without his consent and whose cancellation requests were ignored, has made a new attempt

Journalist and media ombudsman Faruk Bildirici had announced in April that he was registered as an AKP member without his knowledge via e-Devlet. Stating that he had not received a response to the criminal complaints and applications he made during this process, Bildirici has finally taken the matter to the Ombudsman Institution.

In a statement on his social media account, Bildirici noted the following:

“As a media ombudsman, I have applied to the Public Ombudsman! After receiving no response to my criminal complaint and applications regarding being registered as an AKP member without my knowledge, I have made a new attempt. I have complained to the Ombudsman about the Office of the Supreme Court Chief Public Prosecutor for failing to take measures to prevent fake memberships, failing to investigate the reasons, and failing to add a 'cancel' button to e-Devlet."

Reminding that the Office of the Supreme Court Chief Public Prosecutor had identified this problem years ago, Bildirici stated that he had added a document dated 2012 to his application:

“The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office noticed the increase in fake memberships years ago. In 2012, the then-Supreme Court Chief Public Prosecutor Hasan Erbil sent a letter to the Political Parties Registry Office to warn the parties. However, it was limited to that; no mechanism was established to protect citizens.”

Following these developments, Bildirici emphasized that legal and digital measures should be taken to make political party membership processes more secure and to prevent memberships made without the consent of citizens.
