Melih Gökçek's post about Dilek İmamoğlu draws backlash: 'You are happy he is inside'

Former ABB Mayor and AKP member Melih Gökçek shared a post about Dilek İmamoğlu on his social media account.

Following the arrest warrant issued against IMM Mayor İmamoğlu, support protests continue at the IMM building in Saraçhane as he heads to Silivri Prison. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and İmamoğlu's wife, Dilek İmamoğlu, meet every evening with thousands of citizens who come to Saraçhane to show their support.

Melih Gökçek made the following controversial post using a photograph of Dilek İmamoğlu taken during these protests:

"Dilek İmamoğlu, it is clear that you are very happy your husband is inside. It seems you have been estranged. There is no need to make it this obvious. Now that Ekrem hears this, he must be terribly annoyed," he stated.

AKP member Melih Gökçek's X post drew significant backlash.
