The Menzil Community will be very 'angry' at this fatwa from the Diyanet!

The Presidency of Religious Affairs' (Diyanet) "Fatwa Line" was asked about the Menzil Community's repentance session.

"WE HOPE THAT..."

According to a report by İsmail Arı from BirGün; a Diyanet official responded to the highly controversial Menzil repentance session by saying, "Repentance is made to Allah. If a person sees that sheikh as an authority for repentance, there is a problem there. Is repentance being made to Allah in the presence of an elder or leader there? There are many ignorant people. There are many who repent to that sheikh. We hope that they are repenting to Allah."

Regarding the footage in which community members hold ropes and the ends of all the ropes are in the hand of the Menzil sheikh, the Fatwa Line official said, "There is no such form of repentance in Islam. There is no form of repentance involving ropes or cords... It is best to repent to Allah."
