Meral Akşener denies Levent Gültekin's claim regarding İmamoğlu and Yavaş
Journalist Levent Gültekin claimed that IYI Party leader Meral Akşener said, regarding Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, “Did I establish a party just so they could become president?” Denying the claim, Akşener announced that she would take Gültekin to court.
IYI Party Chair Meral Akşener responded to Levent Gültekin’s statement, “There was a year and a half until the elections when Meral Akşener called me one day. Referring to Yavaş and İmamoğlu, she said, ‘Who do they think they are? They are using municipal funds to conduct polls and showing themselves as leading. Did I establish a party just so they could become president? I will not let them pass,’” by saying, “I will take him to court. I never said such a thing.”
