Message from Zeydan Karalar, who has been taken into custody!
A handwritten message from Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar, who is being held in custody, has been shared.
The investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into allegations of corruption within the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) has extended to Adana and Adiyaman.
In line with this, detention warrants were issued for Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar and Adiyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere. Furthermore, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek, who was taken into custody following instructions from the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, was arrested by the court he was brought before last night.
Zeydan Karalar, who was taken into custody in Gebze yesterday morning, sent a message in his own handwriting.
"We will meet in freedom as soon as possible" Karalar stated the following:
“As a continuation of these unjust and unlawful detentions, I was taken into custody today while I was at my sister's house in Gebze. My dear brothers and sisters of Adana and my beloved nation, know that I only tried to perform the sacred duty you entrusted to me with dignity. I served 24 hours a day. I have not bowed down, and I will not. I have not compromised on honesty. We will meet in freedom as soon as possible. I am fine, those who love me should not worry.”

While being brought in for a medical check-up yesterday, Karalar had told reporters, "They will silence anyone who is an effective member of the press or an effective politician."
