Message on CHP from Öcalan, visited by DEM Party: He targeted the Republic!

The DEM Party Imralı Delegation held a meeting yesterday with Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK.

A written statement was issued by the DEM Party regarding the content of the meeting. The statement from the DEM Party included Öcalan's message.

The terrorist leader noted the following regarding the absolute nullity decision against the CHP and the evacuation of the CHP Headquarters by police intervention:

“Is it something that can happen in a democracy to enter the headquarters of a political party by breaking its door with a sledgehammer? The practices against the Republican People's Party and the developments that have occurred are related to the absence of a properly functioning democracy and democratic politics.”

The written statement issued by the DEM Party Imralı Delegation is as follows:

"On May 24, 2026, as the Imralı Delegation, we held a meeting with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan and the friends staying with him. Mr. Öcalan's assessments during the meeting were summarized as follows:

'It is not possible to transform societies burdened with great anger without great thought and great ethical values. Society is experiencing a great squeeze at every level of life in ethical, political, legal, and economic terms. That is why we are insisting and hurrying in the process.

I think the Middle East conjuncture is still pregnant with everything. States like Iran and Israel are hardening and seem likely to harden even further. Developing nationalism and separation in the Middle East, and growing micro-nationalisms, causes harm. We are conducting a process study that will observe and prevent risky developments in the region and overcome bloody reckonings.

And of course, it is important that everything done is placed on a legal basis. Remaining in expectation, maintaining a state of expectation, only produces risk. We have no time to lose. I believe that all actors will act with this understanding of historical responsibility and that the TBMM will also carry out its work with this sensitivity.

A framework law can form the stem cell of the democratization process. A legal regulation will put us into a real positive construction, a process where the wheel of democracy turns. Democratization is a vital need, and the success of the process brings us closer to this goal.

Is it something that can happen in a democracy to enter the headquarters of a political party by breaking its door with a sledgehammer? The practices against the Republican People's Party and the developments that have occurred are related to the absence of a properly functioning democracy and democratic politics. This is the reason that brought things to this point; it is the lack of the principle of democracy at the foundation of the republic. The consequences of approaching democracy as if it were a luxury, demagoguery, or empty talk and not caring about it are a grave mistake. There is no situation as urgent as developing the democratic character of the Republic.

We are trying to develop the ground for this and expand its possibilities in this country. While moving towards legal steps for a solution in Imralı, we attach great importance to preparing the republic for a democratic exit and a democratic law. We see this as a step towards eliminating the lack of democracy both within the party and between parties. The reward for all efforts will be to give the republic a democratic content and culture, and to establish a solid legal system that guarantees these. On this basis, I call on everyone to contribute to the Peace and Democratic Society Process.

This is the meaning of the integration of Kurds into the democratic republic. We are trying to overcome a situation that the Kurdish issue has locked for years. The element of violence stemming from the Kurdish issue is being overcome with a solution systematic. We can also call this process a process of rearranging, modernizing, and updating Turkish-Kurdish relations.

The messages of international intellectuals and academics who support the Peace and Democratic Society Process have been compiled into a book. In this context, I would like to emphasize that I am ready to evaluate every kind of suggestion, criticism, and contribution in the most meticulous way. I salute them all for their very important support during the period when we need peace and democracy the most.'"
