Message to the judiciary from Mansur Yavaş, for whom an investigation permit was requested

National Path Party (Millî Yol Partisi) Chairman Remzi Çayır and his accompanying delegation paid a support visit to Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, for whom an investigation permit was requested. The meeting took place at the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality building.

"WE ARE READY TO GIVE A STATEMENT"

Speaking to members of the press after the visit, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş addressed the judicial process. Yavaş said, "We have stated on every occasion that we are not afraid of being tried. If we need to give a statement in any way, we are prepared to do so."

"WE DO NOT SHY AWAY FROM ACCOUNTABILITY"

Yavaş emphasized that they carry out all their work as a municipal administration in a transparent manner. Stating, "The money we spend is the citizens' money. For this reason, we always state that we are ready to be held accountable," Yavaş said that all activities carried out during their term are open to the public.

"THE JUDICIARY MUST TREAT EVERYONE EQUALLY"

Drawing attention to the impartiality and equality of the judiciary, the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor said, "We want the judiciary to treat everyone equally, to investigate, and especially for the principle of presumption of innocence to be strictly valid. We expect the constitutional provision that everyone is innocent until their sentence is finalized to be applied."

Mansur Yavaş's statements are as follows:

"We have stated on every occasion that we are not afraid of being tried. If we need to give a statement in any way, we are prepared to do so. Furthermore, we share all our work with the public in a transparent manner. Because the money we spend is the citizens' money. We always state that we are ready to be held accountable. We also have complaints we have filed. There are those who have been tried in the face of complaints to this day, but to date, there has been no control or arrest for any of them. We want the judiciary to treat everyone equally, to investigate, and especially for the principle of presumption of innocence to be strictly valid, and for the constitutional provision that everyone is innocent until their sentence is finalized to be applied. Ultimately, if someone receives a sentence, they will serve it. Showing someone as guilty in advance... Everyone has a family, a social circle. Unfortunately, these things are not easily cleared. I think the judiciary should be very careful about this issue and consider detention only as a last resort. I hope that justice will definitely, absolutely be served in this country. The rule of law will prevail, or we will perish."
