Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek was detained yesterday morning in a dawn operation as part of an investigation conducted by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding bribery allegations.
Böcek was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
A message written by Böcek from the prison where he is being held has been shared.
Mayor Böcek addressed the people of Antalya with the words, "Dear people of Antalya, throughout my political life, I have never been involved in any incident that would upset you or make you hang your heads in shame. These days, when the words of confessors and slanderers carry weight, will also pass... Divine justice will prevail sooner or later... I love you all very much."
