Messages on Syria following the first NSC meeting of the year: The 'Red Book' has been updated
The first National Security Council (NSC) meeting of the year, chaired by AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan, has concluded. The statement released after the meeting emphasized that the PKK/YPG will not be allowed to gain a foothold in Syria.
The NSC was held at the Presidential Complex under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. A written statement was released following the meeting.
The statement included the following:
-The National Security Policy Document (MGSB), which is updated regularly every five years or urgently when necessary, has been renewed following an assessment of developments that have occurred or are likely to occur in Turkey, the region, and the world, and has been approved by the council.
It has been decided that the MGSB-2020 will be repealed and the MGSB-2025 will enter into force.
Political, military, economic, and social developments that took place in 2024 and are of importance to our national security were evaluated; issues that may be faced in 2025, as well as the activities to be carried out and measures to be taken in this context, were discussed.
3. Information was presented to the council regarding operations successfully conducted with determination and resolve both at home and abroad against all kinds of threats and dangers to our national unity, solidarity, and survival, primarily the PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETÖ, and DAESH terrorist organizations, as well as recent international developments.
4. It was reaffirmed once again that full support will be given to the new administration in Syria regarding its will to ensure the state's sovereignty, unitary structure, territorial integrity, and political unity, as well as to guarantee the fundamental rights and freedoms of all ethnic, religious, and sectarian groups in the country, to the reconstruction of Syria, and to the peace and prosperity of the Syrian people.
5. It was recalled that the PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG will not be allowed to exploit the current situation and potential developments in Syria in any way; it was emphasized that all terrorist organizations, which are enemies of the friendly and brotherly peoples in our region, will be liquidated in any case.
-It was underlined that the ceasefire achieved in Gaza must be permanent and serve as a starting point for a fair resolution of the Palestinian issue; attention was drawn to the importance of delivering humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza without hindrance, uninterruptedly, and rapidly.
-Furthermore, it was stated that Israel's expansion of its aggressive actions, which disregard international law, into Syrian territory poses an obstacle to efforts aimed at ensuring stability in the region.
-It was stated that Turkey will continue to make maximum contributions to the establishment of global peace and stability by intensifying its activities aimed at resolving disputes in various parts of the world, particularly in Africa, the Middle East, and the Balkans, before they turn into conflicts, and by ensuring that ongoing conflicts are concluded with peace.
