Meteorological warning for heavy rain and snowfall: Snowfall to be effective in the Eastern Black Sea region

The General Directorate of Meteorology has shared its latest assessments regarding the weather across the country. Accordingly, the country is generally expected to be partly to very cloudy, with heavy rain expected in the Eastern Black Sea region, very heavy rain in the vicinity of Artvin and Rize, and heavy snowfall in higher elevations.

The Directorate published the weather report for December 17. The report indicates that rain is expected in the provinces of Bursa, Sakarya, Bilecik, Afyonkarahisar, Isparta, Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, Batman, and Siirt. It also stated that snow and sleet are predicted for Bilecik, Kütahya, Eskişehir, the higher regions of Bursa, as well as Ankara and Sivas.

THE COUNTRY AWAITS VERY CLOUDY WEATHER

According to the latest assessments made by the MGM, very cloudy weather is expected across the country. Precipitation is expected in Central Anatolia, the south and east of the Western Mediterranean, the Central and Eastern Black Sea, Eastern Anatolia, and the surroundings of Bursa, Sakarya, Bilecik, Afyonkarahisar, Isparta, Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, Batman, and Siirt.

The precipitation, which will generally be in the form of rain and showers, is expected to be heavy in the Marmara, coastal Aegean, and Antalya regions this evening, and very heavy in the eastern districts of Antalya. Starting from the night hours, heavy rain is expected on the Eastern Black Sea coast, with very heavy rain in the vicinity of Rize and Artvin, and heavy snowfall in higher elevations. Additionally, it is estimated that there may be occasional fog and mist in the inner and eastern parts during the night and morning hours.

TEMPERATURES WILL DROP BY 6-10 DEGREES

There will be no significant change in air temperatures on the southern coasts and in Marmara, while a decrease of 6 to 10 degrees is expected in other regions.

WIND SPEED WILL REACH 70 KM/H

The wind will generally blow from the north, light to occasionally moderate, and will be strong, occasionally reaching storm force (50-70 km/h) from the north and northeast in Marmara, the Aegean coasts, and the Eastern Mediterranean.

PRECIPITATION WARNING

Since precipitation is expected to be heavy in the Eastern Black Sea, very heavy in the vicinity of Artvin and Rize, and heavy snow in higher elevations, caution and precautions should be taken regarding transportation and other areas against potential negative consequences.

WIND WARNING

Since the wind is expected to blow strongly and occasionally reach storm force from the north and northeast in Marmara, the Aegean coasts, and the Eastern Mediterranean, it is important to be careful and take precautions against potential adverse conditions.
