Warning for Istanbul from the Meteorological Service

A last-minute warning has been issued by the Meteorological Service for Istanbul. A warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms has been issued for the northern parts of Istanbul.

According to the statement made by the General Directorate of Meteorology, locally heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in the northern parts of Istanbul this evening and during the night.

Caution should be exercised against negative conditions such as flash floods, flooding, lightning, disruptions in transportation, and strong winds during precipitation.

ISTANBUL GOVERNOR'S OFFICE WARNED CITIZENS

In a post shared by the Istanbul Governor's Office on its social media account, it was stated, "It is estimated that the thunderstorms expected locally in the northern parts of Istanbul this evening and during the night will be heavy." The post stated that caution and precautions should be taken against negative conditions.

The warnings issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology stated the following:

Since locally heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in the vicinity of Giresun tomorrow, and in the northern parts of Istanbul this evening and during the night, caution and precautions must be taken against negative conditions such as flash floods, flooding, lightning, disruptions in transportation, and strong winds during precipitation.

According to the latest assessments made by the General Directorate of Meteorology: The northern, inner, and western parts of our country are expected to be partly to very cloudy; the southern and eastern parts of Marmara, Northern Aegean, the inner parts of the Western Black Sea, the coasts of the Central and Eastern Black Sea, as well as the south of Edirne and the coastal districts of Kırklareli are expected to experience intermittent rain and thunderstorms, while other places are expected to be slightly cloudy and clear. Precipitation is expected to be locally heavy in the vicinity of Giresun and in the northern parts of Istanbul this evening and during the night.

AIR TEMPERATURE: It is estimated that there will be no significant change and that it will hover around seasonal norms across the country.

WIND: It is expected to blow from the north generally, and from the south in the southern and eventually eastern parts of the country, light to occasionally moderate, and strong (40-60 km/h) from the north and northeast in the Marmara and Northern Aegean coasts.

MARMARA

It is estimated to be partly to very cloudy, with intermittent rain and thunderstorms in the southern and eastern parts of the region, as well as the south of Edirne and the coastal districts of Kırklareli. Precipitation is expected to be locally heavy in the northern parts of Istanbul this evening and during the night. The wind is expected to blow strongly (40-60 km/h) from the north and northeast.
